Oh, Will.  What can I say about Will??  He’s a good guy – he’s funny, he’s smart…he pretends to enjoy getting his picture taken!  Love that! :)   I heard from a small bird that he was a bit reluctant to go through this whole senior photo process.  From what I heard, he would have been content having his parents take a picture of him in their back yard, brush their hands together and call it a day.  Little did he know that he was going to HAVE A BLAST!  (It’s my story and I can tell it how I want.)  In all seriousness, he did great, actually, really great and I had a ton of fun putting this session together (you ought to meet his folks – they’re sweeter than sweet AND a kick in the pants!).  As for my words of advice after this session:  When hiking up hills with a cross-country runner, be sure to come up with conversation questions that require long responses so that you do not have to talk and attempt to appear as though you’re not wheezing and gasping.

Will – thanks so much for begging me to take your senior photos (ha!)…no really, thank you and I hope you love your sneak peek!

Now, this little cute family has been with me from the beginning, the VERY beginning.  They can’t go further back as they were the very first for me.  It has been three years and I can still remember plain as day where I was when I offered to take these little girlies’ pictures.  I knew that I would have to start somewhere and looking back, I know I was nervous with this offer.  Ah heck, I have to admit I STILL get nervous with my sessions!! ;)   So, here we are three years later with me talking this crew into looking lovely in some of Butte, Montana’s finest neighborhoods.  I think they had their doubts when we showed up here.  And awwwwwe, let’s not forget the sweet aroma of burning chemicals near by.  I only scope out the best for my sessions.  They’re troopers though and come to find out, I think they WERE putting their best game faces on!

O Family – I can’t thank you enough for your continued support with this crazy ride I’m on…you guys have been the best!  Hope you like what you see – I had a blast spending the morning with you!

This little girlie is going to be seeing a birthday in three days (six going on twenty-six!) – this one’s for you girl! :)

Yep, folks, that would be how many grand kids I had the opportunity to photograph at this session…crazy, yes, but I have to say, what an experience I’ll treasure.  These little critters are SO loved by their grandparents…you could just feel it.  Oh, and I figured out what makes them laugh…you know the bent-over, boisterous, explosion type laugh…allow me to let you in on this photographer trick.  You’ll want to walk backwards looking like you’re trying to get the shot and “pretend” that you stumble into your stool and nearly flip over backwards in front of, oh, say, 20 people or so.  Don’t thank me for disclosing my secret…truly, my treat.  I’ve tried it, well, once, and it works like a charm. ;)

Thanks SO much, Vickie and family, for the opportunity to put this “little” session together…there are a bundle of images to go through…can’t wait for you to see them!

As promised…back with the official sneak peek from her session.  I can’t say enough about this girl…she’s funny, she’s driven, she’s smart…she truly just has all those qualities you would want in your own children.  I couldn’t have been more tickled that I was able to put this session together for her.  We have had this one in the books for ages and what a treat to see it come alive…thanks A…you really have so much to be proud of.  I absolutely cannot wait for you to see the rest of your images!

Winnie the Pooh; he just always seems so happy…ha!

And the bartender says, “Why the long face?”   HA! HA!  I’ll bet you NEVER heard that one before!  Sometimes I crack myself up.  Like right now.  I’m completely cracking up…ha!  Okay, so, I have to say that I’m not a horse person – surely not because I do not like them but more so because I didn’t grow up with them and haven’t had a ton of exposure to them.  I have several friends who have and adore horses and ride them A LOT; however, I’m just a city girl.  I grew up in the city…you know, population 2,500.  City.  I don’t know, I just felt like saying that.  HA!  Yet again, I’m so stinkin’ funny…only in Montana is that classified as a city, I suppose.  I digress.  Stick with me.  Focus.  What’s with the horse talk, you ask??  Well, let me explain.  Last night, I had the opportunity to photograph a very sweet senior girl.  Currently, we’re only half complete as in good ol’ Montana fashion lately, we got rained and “winded” out.  Fortunately, I had scoped out an AMAZING location that I was extrem-0 excited to use.  Unfortunately, we only had about 5 minutes of my favorite light before some clouds moved in.  And now back to “fortunately,” we were able to get some images that made my heart jump up and down; however, this was not without an audience.  Insert two horses and 100,000 mosquitos.

So, I’m loving what I’m seeing….

Now look at her face… (potentially a wee bit concerned)

Well, now that would be the profile of a horses nostril in my lens.  Oh, and look at her face again.  Hmmm, why am I not sensing any concern???

Now, for her turn.  Hee hee.  I giggle at this because I wasn’t quite ready a second prior to this.  One second ago, I looked up and I saw two horses lips nibbling on the top of her hair…a photograph seemed only appropriate at this time.  Btw, how stinkin’ cute is SHE?!!

My abs are still a bit tender today from laughing so hard last night!  I would say though that our adventures were beyond worth it for the ability to capture moments like this…

I’ll be back again with an “official” sneak peek for this girlie once we finish Part 2.

You know, I have to admit, I’m certain I don’t show it all that much but I’m moderately intense during my sessions.  I’m always thinking and thinking…between helping choreograph a session, engaging (and comforting) your subjects, finding the right light, and manipulating your camera settings, my mind is typically going a hundred miles an hour.  It’s funny because I love all of this but I also love those moments where I’m just me and completely relaxed and spending time with a family.  This session was no exception.  Yes, it’s intense but it’s just stepping back a second and looking at a beautiful sleeping newborn boy that can nearly take your breath away.  I suppose, it has a lot with being a mom but truly, the miracle of the beginning of a new life offers a feeling that is indescribable.  Thanks F family for sharing your family with me yet again…I’m loving watching your little crew grow.  Now, go keep having more. ;)

I couldn’t resist posting this one…

Big brother was certainly not off the hook…how can one resist those eyes…au naturel, folks.  You may remember him from this post.

Can’t wait to show you more!! :)

So, we (as in his mom and me) have had this session in the works for a LONG time!  I couldn’t be more excited to get the opportunity to put this one together.  My mom has been friends with Chris’s mom for years.  They used to work in the same building…his mom working in a public health department office.  When I went to college, let’s just say that I received a very lovely care package from the ladies in this office – the care package filled with all your normal care package items with the comic inclusion of an abundance of multi-colored prophylactics.  I was certainly far too driven in college to have needed these but I continued to carry this joke along and had kept some in my coat pocket because they were indeed kind of a kick in the pants; however, I have to say that it wasn’t so funny (or maybe funnier!) when I was reaching for my wallet at a cash register during a busy Christmas stroll in Butte, Montana and as I pulled my wallet out, well, along came an entire string of these multi-colored packets.  As if that wasn’t embarrassing enough, a professor happened to be standing near the register (along with several other nice people just enjoying the holiday season) and began to bend over and pick them up.  I nearly died.  I think I had at least one incident like this a week my freshman year.

Anyway, I digress a bit…I think the last time I saw Chris, he was just a little guy and let’s just say that well, now, he’s certainly NOT a little guy…eek!!  For those who don’t know, I’m a whopping 5′ 2″ and I embarrassingly, nearly always carry around a stool and/or ladder during my sessions.  There was certainly good reason for this one…he could squash me if he really wanted to.  He wouldn’t though because he has grown to be plainly just such a nice guy.  He has goals and has values and is a great conversationalist – it’s just so amazing to see what people turn into.  I can’t wait to see where he goes!

Thanks so much K family for spending some time with me – as always, it was great seeing you…can’t wait to show you the rest of your images!

Okay, so I typically limit my sneak peek images but I’m feeling a little generous…these images just made me happy.

So, what started out as this…

and this…

ended up with these…

Thanks M family for a great night…I had a ton of fun chasing Mr. L (you probably had fun watching! ha!)…hope you like your sneak peek!

Awww, this gal has it down.  She has to…she’s the only girl in the house!  She holds her own though and I had the pleasure of spending time with her and her team of boys.  What cuties they are and they gave me a glimpse of what is in my future…can’t wait!  Thanks so much H family for a great evening…you guys were a blast!

I first met this mother of two a couple of years ago at a friend’s house.  She brought the most amazing baked brie (caramel apple baked brie, I believe).  IT WAS AMAZING!  And since then, I’ve found that she ALWAYS brings amazing things to any function we’ve been at together.  Not only is she a great cook but she’s also polite and pleasant and kind and this was a great opportunity to get to know her and her family a bit more.  Let me just tell you, they are beyond sweet together and they just have that sense about them that just makes you feel good.  I will say though that my first impression of her husband was quiet and shy and let me just mention how off I was on that one.  He’s a firecracker who I think may be hoping for another photo session right away!  As for the kiddos, sweet, sweet, sweet…you just want to squeeze them!  They were so very good to me.  Thanks K family for allowing me to capture some moments of your family tonight…you have a good thing going.

So, I had this vision for this photo the other day.  It actually started when I saw this bike parked at a house near mine.  I’ve found that it never hurts to ask so here’s a shout out and thank you to Jody for letting me borrow her Mother’s Day gift…it worked like a charm!
